We utilize a variety of heavy machinery to provide our services including cranes, gantries, specialized trailers and more. With experienced operators always on call, we can mobilize quickly and excel in the event of an emergency such as an unforeseen power shutdown.

Empire District Electric

Lift and set (1) 326,530 Lb AC Turbine Generator on Cribbing.  Return at later date to lift the same and remove cribbing.  Return once again and lift to set on original foundation.

INSTALL

Cherokee Data Center – Tulsa, OK

  • 140 Ton crane and special rigging to offload the model 3612 generators from rail cars
  • Trucks and heavy-haul trailers to transport 10 miles across Tulsa
  • 80,000 lbs. capacity fork truck, 1” steel plate and skates to move in and place generators
  • Positioned the generators on elevated concrete foundations
  • Mounted isolator pads once each generator was raised to elevation
  • Lowered generators to sit on the isolators and holes marked for the HIT HY 150 Injection Adhesive anchor bolts
  • Raised generator to place skates under the generator, allowing anchor holes to be drilled and anchors set on each side
  • Lowered each generator down onto the 32 anchor bolts
  • All anchor bolts torqued to Caterpillar specifications
  • Set cooling units, mufflers and support tower air compressors and air receivers for the air starters, expansion joints for intake and exhaust piping

  1. Offload transformer from railcar to TCR trailer
  2. Transformer Specs: 204,500 lbs

  1. Transport load to bridge 
  2.  Install Holland dollies to trailer; now – 25’ wide dual lane
  3. Reinstalled trunion axles to trailer
  4.  Mobilize to site

Transformer was offloaded, transported and set in storage pit using our 8-line Scheulerle trailer and jack & slide system, which TCR designed, engineered, and fabricated in house. This was a one-day job with no incidents.

CHANGEOUT

Kansas City Power & Light Station – Sibley, MO

Taylor Crane & Rigging was challenged with removing two 115,000-lb. vessels and reinstalling two new replacement vessels from the second story of a power generation station, all without blocking the roll-up door to the turbine room beneath it. This restriction required the vessels to be accessed, removed and reinstalled from a distance of 60 feet from the building. To overcome this challenging restriction, TCR raised 100 feet of track beam using two separate gantry systems and slid each vessel along the beams to where they could be safely lowered 60 feet away from the building. Once lowered, two Versa-lifts tandem lifted the old vessels off of the track and lifted the new vessels back onto the track.

Additionally, the vessels were too heavy to be skated safely across the second story floor, so TCR used additional track beams inside the building to distribute the weight. TCR used a tailor-made jack and slide system designed in-house to move the vessels across the beams to and from the track beams placed outside. The project was completed on time and to the satisfaction of the customer, who stated, “Your crew interacted well with our crew, overcame obstacles and completed this project safely.
